Positive: We booked at very short notice because we had been let down by another booking. We were flexible on location, so chose the property first, not knowing anything about the location. It turned out that Downham Market was a good base to explore this area of the country, and had enough attractions of its own to allow us to relax - and our wives to explore the shops! The Penthouse itself was exceptional, full of style, and comfortable. As an avid watcher of Salvage Hunters on the TV, where Drew Pritchard travels the country seeking out antiques, it seemed as if the owners of this property were of similar mind. This was confirmed by their shop - Living in Paradise - which was downstairs from the Penthouse. Communication from the owners through Booking.com was very clear, friendly and with quick responses. They suggested we 'say hello in person' by visiting their shop - which we did. We got a bit more of the story of the total renovation of the Penthouse, which had taken place during the last couple of years. There was fresh milk in the fridge when we arrived, plus a cake to have with a cup of tea. The small touches make a difference.
Negative: We can honestly say that we had no complaints about anything. Four of us stayed there - all of us the wrong side of 70! The Penthouse is on the first floor, access by easily and easily accessible external staircase. I had to carry most of the cases up. The owners did offer to help us getting in and out - which we declined - so it wouldn't be a problem if anyone wanted to stay who had mobility issues.
Summary: Beyond our expectations, and a great choice for a holiday in a part of the country that offers a lot
